Cookie Policy

The short version

This site sets no cookies. Not for analytics, not for anything else. There are no accounts, no cart and no advertising.

It does measure how many people visit which pages, using Umami — analytics software chosen specifically because it works without cookies and without building a profile of you.

What Umami records

For each page view: the page address, the site that linked you here, your country, and your browser, operating system and screen size. That is the whole list.

Your IP address reaches Umami’s servers, as it does with any request to any website, and is used to work out your country and to build an anonymous, one-way visit fingerprint that resets daily. It is not stored, and the fingerprint cannot be turned back into an IP address or matched to you.

What it does not do: set a cookie, store any identifier on your device, follow you between sites, or collect anything that identifies you personally. Visits across different days are not linked into a history of you.

It also records when someone clicks through to Amazon, and from which page. That is a count of clicks, not of people.

Switching it off

Use the Analytics link in the footer. Turning it off records a single value in your browser’s localStorage under the key analytics-optout-v1, and from then on the analytics script is never loaded on this site — not loaded and ignored, but never requested at all.

That value never leaves your device and is not a cookie. It is specific to the browser you set it in, so it will not carry across to your phone, and clearing your site data for this domain resets it.

The site also honours your browser’s Do Not Track setting, if you have one switched on. Nothing is recorded in that case either.

Following a link to Amazon puts you on Amazon’s site, where their cookies and privacy policy apply. We have no control over and no visibility into those.
